Program
Development: 20%
·
Identify program needs through program committee, advisory committees,
program participants, and interactions with
· Seek out additional funding resources to enhance program efforts.
·
Work collaboratively with community agencies and other health
professionals in developing and implementing comprehensive educational programs
to address identified needs in nutrition and health education for residents of
· Draw upon Cornell program resources and research findings in order to address identified clientele needs and to select program materials. Consult with Cornell faculty and contribute to multidisciplinary team efforts.
· Ensure that educational programs conform to association and Cornell Cooperative Extension objectives and mission, and consider the diversity of the community.
· Prepare and support the development and compilation of educational materials such as training aids, exhibits, and demonstration projects. Obtain specialized assistance from Cornell faculty and specialists as needed, for developing program material.
· Be recognized and serve as a subject-matter resource to the staff and clientele groups, schools, agencies, and other groups, as they are identified.
· Develop and enhance networks of volunteers to extend program.
· Develop collaborations with a variety of community agencies to address community health issues.
Program
Implementation: 45%
· Provide educational programming to target adult audiences in nutrition, health and safety.
· Coordinate marketing efforts to inform consumers about programs and resources of CCE through food pantries, farmers’ markets, and displays at county fairs and other community events as appropriate. Contributes news articles to local media outlets.
· Utilize a variety of delivery methods to impact targeted audiences with emphasis on reaching under served and diverse populations.
· Provide information to consumers related to home environment and maintenance, food preparation, preservation and safety, budgeting and other topics of consumer interest.
Program Management: 20%
· Manage the ESNY program, which includes budget management, staff supervision, agency collaboration, data management and evaluation.
· Seek out, prepare, and submit proposals to secure additional program funding, actively involving the Executive Director, program committee, Board of Directors, Cornell faculty and Extension Administration.

Serve as Program Manager for ESNY
program, working with state, regional, and local networks to develop an
effective ESNY program in
Program Evaluation: 10%
· Analyze and evaluate programs and make recommendations to the supervisor, program committee, and advisory committees for strengthening and improving programs.
· Contribute to association team’s accountability and marketing efforts by ensuring reports are prepared and the benefits of programs for residents are marketed to interested publics.
· Confer with program participants, association committees, faculty, and county and community leaders to obtain their evaluation of programs.
· Communicate to Cornell staff and faculty the economic and social changes in counties that need to be considered by Cornell specialists.
· Communicate evaluation results, recommendations and impacts to internal and external stakeholders, the general public and program participants.
Professional
Improvement: 5%
· Participate in required orientation programs within the county and at Cornell.
· Attend relevant inservices education programs as appropriate to program responsibilities.
· Seek opportunity for continuous learning; in cooperation with the Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
Reporting Relationships:
· Report to and receive supervision and guidance from the Executive Director.
· Will supervise the work of other staff including ESNY Community Nutrition Educators and related program staff and volunteers.
Degree and Experience Requirements:
Competencies
· Proven in-depth knowledge of Human Nutrition, Health and Food Safety.
· Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, organize, implement and evaluate formal and informal education programs for diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize a variety of teaching and delivery methods.
· Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage a highly functioning work team. Demonstrated experience in effective supervision and management.
· Proven ability to effectively work with advisory committees; ability to identify and involve people in determining program direction.
· Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community and professional leaders and clientele groups.
· Demonstrated ability to identify and make use of program resources within the community and to establish a leadership role among community agencies providing nutrition programming.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual channels using traditional methods as well as electronic technology.
· Ability to generate a credible media presence in the community.
· Demonstrated ability to develop successful funding proposals.
· Demonstrated ability to utilize computers effectively for both administrative and programmatic functions. Engage in problem-solving; suggest ways to improve performance and be more efficient.
Special Requirements:
· Access to transportation adequate to fulfill position responsibilities. Mileage will be reimbursed.
· Arrange moving supplies and equipment used in program delivery.
· Must be willing to work flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends and overnight travel.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
